What distinguishes Counterparts?

At our forefront is achieving clients' set goals efficiently and with cultural sensitivity. At our core, we excel in recognizing that every goal and every issue represents people, not just numbers. Counterparts' many years of work in social service programs for youth, families, persons with disabilities, and those from other cultures show that we can:
  • Pick up the reins of a project and move it efficiently to completion
  • Become part of an organization's team to reach specific goals—or create a new work group to move an issue forward
  • Interact with persons from all walks of life and cultures, weaving their aims and interests into the initiative at hand
  • Keep an eye on an effort's strategic goal while also managing efficiently the details that make that goal achievable
  • Offer all of our services in either English and/or Spanish

Examples of ways in which Counterparts can work with you:

As planners of issue-oriented meetings and conferences, both national and international: For 20 years Counterparts has organized and run international events that draw hundreds of participants from over 50 nations. These meetings focus on a topic of shared interest-human rights, international student exchange opportunities, or the inclusion of people with disabilities in national societies. Counterparts conducts site visits, contracts with hotels, works with committees to plan agendas, organizes panels, manages speakers and participants, handles the logistics of the event itself, and documents outcomes.

As cross-cultural program developers and evaluators:
Counterparts' bilingual, multi-cultural staff has lived and worked in various countries. Our experiences have fostered a respect for and understanding of both cultural norms and the nuances of formal or informal language. Counterparts handles interviews, organizes and leads workshops, conducts program evaluations, and develops materials for conferences and training events equally well in Spanish or English.

As designers of cutting-edge programs:
Working with national and international planning teams, Counterparts has developed grant proposals and designed innovative projects that have received funding to support services for youth and families at risk due to their immigration status, mental health challenges, involvement with court systems, or need for special education.

As planners of assistive technology displays and providers of AT training:
Counterparts plans and runs assistive technology (AT) Cyber Cafes both in the U.S. and abroad that showcase state-of-the-art computer software and hardware that extend the reach and increase the employability of youth and adults who are deaf, blind, and physically, emotionally, or intellectually challenged. Hands-on training is conducted in small workshop settings in both Spanish and English.
